In Wati, you can adjust your AI agent’s tone in two simple ways - either by writing your own prompt or selecting from pre-defined styles.

Option 1: Write your own tone instructions

In the Build My Agent settings, you'll find an option called Agent Instructions where you can add custom guidance for how your agent should respond.

If you’re experienced with prompt engineering, you can write custom instructions that clearly define how your agent should sound. For example:

Use a friendly and supportive tone. Respond with empathy and keep explanations simple and clear.

These instructions will guide your agent’s behavior in every response.

Option 2: Choose a pre-defined communication style

Prefer a quick setup? You can pick from ready-made tone options under the Communication style setting in the Build My Agent section. Available styles include:

  • Friendly & Professional – Warm and helpful, but still clear and respectful.

  • Formal & Corporate – Suits official or business communication.

  • Expert & Consultative – Confident and informative, ideal for explaining technical topics.

  • Casual & Conversational – Light and relaxed, perfect for informal chat.

Just select the one that fits your brand or customer experience best.

Multilingual Support, AI agent goals and leads collection

You can choose whether the AI agent should support multi-lingual conversations or respond only in English. When multi-lingual support is enabled, the AI agent will automatically reply in the same language used by your website visitor.

You can also assign goals to your AI agent. These goals act as the agent’s primary objectives, guiding how it interacts with website visitors. During conversations, the agent will work toward achieving the goals you’ve set.

You can configure the AI agent to collect essential details from potential leads. This ensures that every qualified lead includes the key information your team needs for follow-ups.
