How Astra improves onboarding
Traditional onboarding often leaves users staring at a blank screen, unsure of what to do next. Astra takes a different approach. It combines guided steps, smart defaults, and ready-made templates to help you get started with confidence.
Here’s how it works.
Streamlined agent onboarding
One of the biggest blockers during setup is “blank page syndrome.” When users are asked to build everything from scratch, it slows them down and creates uncertainty.
Astra solves this by offering role-based templates.
What are role-based templates?
Role-based templates come with:
Pre-configured agent profiles
Suggested names
Ready-to-use descriptions
Clear role definitions (for example, support, sales, or onboarding)
Instead of starting from zero, you start with structure.
Available role-based starting points
When setting up your agent, you can choose from several ready-made options:
Aira – the support agent
Works 24/7 to handle all kinds of complaints and helps you manage customer support efficiently.
Lano – the sales agent
Works 24/7 to assist new leads, answer their questions, and help book demos.
Hal – the lead qualifier
Captures hot leads and ensures no high-intent opportunity is missed.
Poe – the booking assistant
Books meetings, manages scheduling, and handles reschedules seamlessly.
Why this matters
Reduces decision fatigue
Speeds up AI agent creation
Helps you reach your first “Aha” moment faster
Makes the experience feel guided, not overwhelming
You can still customize everything later. The templates simply give you a strong starting point.
How does guided agent creation flow works in Astra
Astra merges account signup and agent creation into one seamless experience. Instead of signing up first and figuring things out later, you begin building your AI agent right away.
Follow these steps to create and launch your first agent in Astra:
Step 1: Sign up for Astra
Create your Astra account to begin the setup process.
Step 2: Choose a role-based starting point
Select the agent role that best matches your goal (for example, support, sales, lead qualification, or booking).
Each agent is pre-configured with role-specific settings, descriptions, and behavior. This helps you launch faster while still allowing full customization later.
Step 3: Configure your agent
After selecting a role:
Choose the channel - Web or WhatsApp.
Enter your website URL so Astra can understand your business context.
Click Create my agent.
Astra will take a moment to apply the branding, understand the context, automatically apply smart defaults and generate your agent based on your selections.
Step 4: Review and deploy
Your agent is now created and ready to:
Be refined (edit instructions, tone, branding or behavior), or
Be deployed immediately to start interacting with users.
You can make changes at any time after creation.
You can test your AI agent before deploying it to users.
To do this:
Go to Build My Agent.
Click on Playground.
In the Playground, you can interact directly with your AI agent, ask questions, and review its responses. This allows you to evaluate how it performs, check the accuracy of its answers, and make adjustments before going live.
What makes it different?
Agents are positioned as intelligent team members, not just tools.
Automatic brand intelligence helps align the agent with your business context.
Smart defaults reduce setup time and prevent common mistakes.
By the time onboarding is complete, your first agent is already configured and ready to work.
If you’re just getting started, follow the guided flow inside Astra and choose a role that best matches your goal. You can always refine your agent later, but getting started quickly is the key to seeing real value.
